- 2 berth
- Location: Hilperton Marina
A 28ft historic iron hull Ice Breaker narrowboat, converted to a 2 berth motor boat.
Erebus is an historic boat built c1890 as an iron riveted 'gang of men or horse drawn' icebreaker for use on the Ashby canal. Believed to be one of four similar craft built.
It was converted to a motorboat in 1979 at Gas Street By Bill Brooks, originally fitted by him a wooden cabin which was later replaced in 1995 with a steel top.
The cabin is now fully fitted in a modern fashion with fixed seating that will convert to beds, shower, hand basin and cassette toilet.
Heating and cooking is provided for by the Epping solid fuel stove.
Propulsion is by a Bukh 24 diesel engine with hydraulic drive.
The boat runs and steers faultlessly, it was fully rewired and re-fitted in 2020 at Brinklow boat services along with some steel over plating that was required.
It was also blacked at this time, a hull survey conducted and a Boat Safety Certificate issued.
The exterior paint is acceptable but a new owner may wish to consider repainting at a future date.
A leisure mooring is available at Hilperton Marina by separate negotiation.
